Susita National Park
The Israel Nature and Parks Authority has invested significant resources in restoring and preparing the Susita National Park to welcome visitors. This unique archaeological site sits above Kibbutz Ein Gev in the Golan Heights, surrounded by a nature reserve rich with dozens of animal species.
During infrastructure planning for visitor access, Netivei Israel discovered that massive basalt boulders—each weighing hundreds of tons—posed a threat to users of the access road and even to the main road at the base of the mountain.
In light of these findings, TAMAR Group was called upon due to its extensive experience in controlled detonations at sensitive sites. Over several weeks, and in collaboration with Netivei Israel, a complex engineering operation was planned. At the site, measurements, simulations, and risk assessments were conducted with the involvement of geologists. Our experts selected a dedicated explosive material and carefully designed one of the largest controlled detonations ever carried out in Israel. Using advanced drilling techniques, the team ensured the blast would be precise, localized, and highly effective.
All charges were detonated in just two precise waves to minimize impact on local wildlife—avoiding prolonged noise that could drive sensitive species away. The operation was swift and perfectly coordinated.
TAMAR held a special briefing for Kibbutz Ein Gev residents, outlining the blast plan and its benefits for public safety and site accessibility.
On the morning of the blast, the access road was closed at 05:00 AM. Shortly after detonation, debris was cleared, the area was inspected, and the road reopened—safe and ready for public use.
TAMAR combines engineering, technology, and environmental care to protect the public, preserve heritage, and respect nature.
